You will be asked to name each individual team member, outline how you work together, and explain both the legal and governing control of your team’s proposed solution. Through the challenge application process, teams will need to showcase both the ingenuity of their idea and their planning acumen.

Local and Sustainable
For the purposes of the Food to Market Challenge, local is defined as within a 250-mile radius around the City of Chicago. Sustainable growing operations are characterized by diversified crop selection and management practices that enhance the biological stability of the operation, soil management techniques - where applicable - that enhance the quality of the soil over time and have the potential to enhance the quality of natural ecosystems, and an efficient or regenerative use of inputs and outputs, such as water, energy, and waste.

An Expert Panel will certify that the food growers of the top ten submissions as determined by the Evaluation Panel are local and sustainable. The top five finalists who meet these criteria will be invited to attend a pitch event where the Selection Committee will determine the Winner.
